Steve Huntley Agrees Its Time to Whittle Down the Fields

July 16th, 2007

I’ve been saying it for months now, Clinton & Edwards were caught saying it near an open mic and Steve Huntley writes Keep the Wannabes Out. Lets face facts folks, there are too many candidates and when the debates resume we will be treated to several more hours of television as Mike Gravel & Ron Paul ramble on.

My Take on the Clinton/Obama Numbers

July 15th, 2007

Here is my quick set of impressions:

1) It is hard to judge who stole who’s spotlight, it all depends on how reporters judge it. You can easily look and say “wow, the amount Obama has been able to raise is enormous and wonderful and shows his Internet strength and appeal to new voters and some heavy hitters in the Dem elite etc. and he will shakedown Clinton.

You can also argue that the steam was taken out of Obama. Not only is Clinton pretty much matched up for the primary money, she has $12 Million in the bank for the general election. She is leading in all polls, she is leading in the states, she has a wide group of endorsements and a national campaign network built up over the last thirty years.

Clinton Numbers Are In

July 15th, 2007

Senator Hillary Clinton will have $33 Million cash on hand in the primaries and brought in over $5 Million for the General Election.

This puts her only $1 Million short of Barack Obama for primary spending and up to $12.6 million for the general election, Obama has about $2 Million for the general.

More McCain Defections?

July 15th, 2007

Drudge is reporting the following:

MORE MCCAIN MUTINY: Staff defections continue, sources say… members of the press shop for the campaign will be announcing they are leaving Monday… Developing…

Not good especially since a good chunk of the political “talent” is already taken by the other candidates and those who haven’t been will be leary to jump aboard. I guess McCain could gather together the thousands upon thousands of Gilmore supporters and staffers who just lost a job… (yes I was being sarcastic).
