Looking At the Bright Side

July 11th, 2007

Well, at least John McCain got a lot of free publicity. It was in an endless series of articles, soundbytes & Web posts about how his campaign is basically sunk, but still.

Seriously though lets face facts, this change of staff was heavily needed. McCain was blowing through money and you can read the TIME story about how that might have happened. In addition it is obvious that the old guards surrounding McCain might have been too close to him. There was absolutely no evidence McCain was being challenged or if he was that anyone had the ability to actually reach him.

McCain’s Finance Director Next on the List

July 11th, 2007

From the Washington Post Mary Kate Johnson, McCain’s Finance Director, has resigned.

Johnson’s resignation was confirmed by two sources with intimate knowledge of the inner workings of McCain’s campaign. Johnson was a relatively new addition to the McCain team, brought in after McCain underperformed expectations in the first fundraising quarter. Johnson replaced longtime McCain finance consultant Carla Eudy.

With Johnson gone, the vast majority of McCain’s senior staff has left the campaign. Rick Davis has stepped in as campaign manager and a few other key figures remain involved — including former McCain chief of staff Mark Salter. But, the McCain campaign looks vastly different tonight that it did just twelve hours ago.

Richardson’s Homosexual Slur & the First Gay Dem Presidential Debate

July 10th, 2007

This has been a REALLY odd election thus far. For some reason its been impossible to find a Republican truly against abortion and a Democrat that hasn’t used a racial or sexist slur.

The latest is Bill Richardson who apologized, after a years time, for using the term “faggot” in Spanish on the Don Imus Show (yes the Don Imus show). the story which I found via Andrew Sullivan.

This comes on the heels of what will be the first Democratic debate focusing solely on LGBT issues.
