Republican Primary Information
John McCain is the Republican Nominee
On March 4th 2008 John McCain won the states of Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island & Texas taking over the 1,191 delegates needed to win the nomination. That night Governor Mike Huckabee officially ended his campaign.
The only candidate left in the race, Ron Paul, did not official end his campaign but in the weeks leading up to the March 4th primaries had curtailed campaigning to focus on the primary bid for his House seat. Paul won that primary bid but it is statistically impossible for he or any challenger to receive enough delegates to challenge McCain.
