Geek Corner - Let the Human Touch Begin

June 1st, 2007

There was a time, not so long ago, when I kept a personal blog. Personal blogs are amazingly fun things that can easily go too far. You start throwing out some opinions, some little facts about your life and before you know it you’ve said something incredibly offensive about another person (or something that can be used against you or them in a court of law) and suddenly people are crying, your family treats you awkwardly at Christmas and the mayor won’t return your phone calls.

Now of course the mayor didn’t return your phone calls before but it just hurts more with all that other stuff going on.

So I have really been spending the last long while of not blogging thinking about, well, blogging. There is an instant and immediate charge that comes from putting your thoughts out there to the public and knowing it reaches at the very least a few hundred and potentially a few million people. It is a charge you just don’t get anywhere else.

I have every intention of keeping this site non-partisan but in many ways it also seems to be lacking something. I have come to think the site is non-human. You can get a bunch of facts about the election and a bunch of posts about Fred Thompson thinking about announcing just about anywhere ellse. You can continue to get them here too, but you can also get me.

So everyday (ok, lets be fare, whenever possible) I am going to try to write down some more personal thoughts. What I am up to here on the site, what I am thinking about, what happened in my day, things I thought were odd, pictures, whatever comes and goes. If you find it interesting, keep reading, if you don’t, ignore it and get to the good policy stuff or daily news or whatever you like here.

So in short, I will let the human touch begin on the blog.
