Sarah Baxter has written what I consider to be the dumbest article I have read in a really long time for Times Online. In it she talks to the ex girlfriends of Fred Thompson. What this possibly adds to our understanding of the candidate or to the electoral process, I cannot possibly fathom and I only link to it out of pure contempt for the subject of the article.

No offense personally to Baxter, I just know this is one of many useless bits of information for 2008 out-there and its a whopping example of “when there is no news to report, go make some”.

Analysis: Covering Romney’s Colorado trip, media fawned over his looks, uncritically reported his dubious Iraq spin

From the NYT Caucus Blog:

May was good for political Web sites. An Internet researcher, comScore Inc., reports that traffic to such sites jumped 17 percent to nine million unique visitors last month, the highest rate of increase among the 110 categories that the company studies.

Among the big gainers: MoveOn.org, whose number of visits rose by 246 percent to around 689,000, spurred by a petition against gas price increases, while the news site Politico.com’s sponsorship of the Republican debate May 3 helped fuel its 162 percent increase, to about 648,000 visitors.

According to this report a source says yes he is set to announce in Nashville on the steps of the historic Fall School Building this Tuesday while the official campaign says no, the speech isn’t an announcement of candidacy.

The report did make mention though that the Thompson team has leased offices in Nashville and is set to make it the home of their national campaign.

What is going on with the campaigns? The just noted insensitive language, Rudy’s SC Treasurer leaving because of cocaine problems and now Romney’s right hand man leaving for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
