The Most Asinine Thing I Have Ever Heard

March 24th, 2008

After a week of defending Senator Clinton’s description of her 1996 trip to Bosnia today footage of that trip came to light completely contradicting her recollection. Tonight the campaign now says Clinton, “misspoke” which might well be the most ludicrous and asinine thing I have ever heard in my entire life.

First lets look at what Clinton said:

I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base. But it was a moment of great pride for me to visit our troops, not only in our main base as Tuzla, but also at two outposts where they were serving in so many capacities to deactivate and remove landmines, to hunt and seek out those who had not complied with the Dayton Accords and put down their arms, and to build relationships with the people that might lead to a peace for them and their children.

Now check out the video of what actually happened:

OK lets get real here. Clinton did not “misspeak”, this wasn’t some foggy interpretation of an adrenaline fueled moment, it was an outright lie. You cannot go from running from sniper fire, canceling a welcome ceremony to get into cars to drive away from the Vietcong, this was a lie and during the first week in months when Clinton could actually gain ground, she blew it.

Seriously, did they not think any of the couple hundred people in that video, the reporters, the people running the ceremony, the soldiers flying the plane, Sinbad, that not ONE of those people might come forward and say “wait, this isn’t right”, did they seriously after years of scrutiny not figure this out?

Plain and simple, this is the most asinine thing I have ever heard.
