Pelosi Changing Course on Offshore Drilling?

August 12th, 2008

In another sign that the 2008 race may be far more fluid than most had assumed just a few weeks ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to cave to both public opinion and staunch Republican protest last night telling Larry King she now supports a vote on offshore drilling as long as it is part of a larger effort to lower gas prices. Included in that effort is a move to release oil from the strategic reserve. While it is too soon for those who support offfshore drilling to celebrate, remember the legislative process is a long one where tons of pork can be added to a bill, it is a sign that the nation’s discontent for the status quo is not simply discontent with Republicans, but for all politics as usual from both sides of the isle.
