Clinton Spoofs Sopranos (Updated)

June 19th, 2007

Well to announce her new campaign song Senator Clinton (along with her husband Bill) did a spoof of the Sopranos series finale. Pretty well done, including a cameo from a Sopranos alum. The problem? Clinton’s finale was probably as anti-climactic as the Sopranos finale in that the winning song is by Celine Dion. No offense to the Canadian singer but, well, you know, you don’t rile the troops together with a Celine Dion song.

You can check out the spoof at Hillary Clinton dot com.

Update: Well it looks like this video is on the verge of going ‘viral’ as they say. TechRepublican has some praise for it and lament that Republicans aren’t producing anything like it. The 24/7 news networks have gone for it and are playing on loop.

Obama Took In Triple the Rezko Cash Than He Claimed

June 18th, 2007

A lot of Obama news tonight. From the Chicago Tribune:

During his 12 years in politics, Sen. Barack Obama has received nearly three times more campaign cash from indicted businessman Tony Rezko and his associates than he has publicly acknowledged, the Chicago Sun-Times has found.

Obama has collected at least $168,308 from Rezko and his circle. Obama also has taken in an unknown amount of money from people who attended fund-raising events hosted by Rezko since the mid-1990s.

Obama Discusses the Hillary Memo

June 18th, 2007

From the Associated Press:

“It was a dumb mistake on our campaign’s part and I made it clear to my staff in no uncertain terms that it was a mistake,” Obama told the AP in a brief interview in which he referred to the memo as “unnecessarily caustic.”

Last Thursday, Obama’s campaign sent the memo to reporters, demanding that it not be attributed to their campaign. The Clinton campaign obtained the document and sent it to journalists. Since then, it has created a furor in the Indian-American community and raised questions about Obama’s claims that he is above attack politics.

“It is not reflective of the long-standing relationship I have had with the Indian-American community,” Obama said in the interview.

“The issue of outsourcing is a genuine and important issue but to refer to one particular country was, I think, an error and I let all of us know that we’ve got to be more careful about how we communicate,” he said.

Obamagirl - The Howard Stern Connection

June 18th, 2007

The big gossipy talk of the town is the Obamagirl video a short bit that got everyone wondering “wtf is going on here?” The video features a young girl singing an R&B song titled “I Got A Crush On Obama”.

The video recieved the royal treatment as television networks and Web sites tried to figure out who the girl was, why the video was created and in an endless loop “what impact” it would have on the Obama campaign. Then everyone realized it was a promotion video for a Web site.

So who is Obamagirl? Today I learned that the actress in the video was actually a former Miss Howard TV, a title given to a new model each month who appears on the Sirius star’s television channel. So if you were looking for some bigger meaning in this, perhaps believing that Obamagirl might just be saying something important here or that this video might actually make or break the election, well, I suggest you push on.

If you haven’t seen the video, you can check it out after the jump.
