In his third presidential veto (second for stem cells) the president took out a bill that would have lifted restrictions placed by him in 2001 on embryonic cell research.
So far only Hillary Clinton has something concrete out there in the form of a statement:
his is just one example of how the President puts ideology before science, politics before the needs of our families, just one more example of how out of touch with reality he and his party have become. And it’s just one more example as to why we’re going to send them packing in January 2009, and return progressive leadership to the White House
I will update the issues page for stem cells as new statements come in.
South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel, a former real estate developer who became a rising political star after his election last year, was indicted Tuesday on federal cocaine charges.
Ravenel is also the state chairman for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.
Ravenel has stepped down from his volunteer responsibilities with the campaign, according to a statement released by Mark Campbell, Giuliani’s political director.
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, rumored heavily to be a potential Independent party candidate for president, has announced he is leaving the Republican party. Is it another step toward a run OR is it just a move for his own personal beliefs? I am sure the speculation will never end over this until he either runs OR the election is over.
Huffington Post has some video of MSNBC’s Chris Matthews getting heckled while questioning Senator Hillary Clinton. You can visit the above link OR check out MSNBC which is currently replaying the video on a loop.
Well considering Hillary Clinton, John McCain, John Edwards & Bill Richardson have all done it, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the much rumored potential 2008 independent candidates visit to Google could and has been speculated upon as a sign he is running. Though at the event he said he would serve out his term as Mayor (through 2009) BUT wouldn’t rule out a bid either.
Check out the full video of Bloomberg @ Google and see what you take away from it.
