I am still putting together the 2008 Senate Section of ElectionGeek but while you are waiting I discovered the site Senate 2008 Guru which might keep you occupied and informed.

Good evening election geekers and thank you for visiting. Traffic has been steadily going up which is always a good sign and I am getting closer to figuring out how I want to run the blog. Including some more personal takes and not just straight up links and news seems to be working.

As for personal I apologize for the light updates the last few days. I was bitten by quite the horrible bug. Tuesday I slept for nearly 18 hours and still didn’t find myself feeling better. Today I feel like I am on the road to recovery but still not there. So its plenty of over the counter pill popping, sleep and staring at the wall for me.

Luckily the news has been rather slow.

I had a flu shot this year and I actually think it has helped keep whatever form of flu I have somewhat mild. Other then aches, pains, exhaustion, headaches, stuffiness and a general feeling of complete dread, I am actually pretty good. My stomach has only been lightly inconvenienced and it feels as though the flu did not reach its full potential.

Just thought I would throw in a little update there for those wondering what is going on.

Incase you couldn’t guess, running a Web site about an ever changing topic isn’t the easiest thing for one person to do. Especially when it isn’t his full-time job. I am, to confess, a bit swamped. But I am working on catching up.

In the meantime I thought I would just wrap-up the story of my visit to D.C. There were several protesters from this weekends peace rally on the National Mall on my plane ride back to Rochester, NY. They were talking about their experience, not directly to me but I overheard.

A part of me wanted to ask them why they would hold a rally on a Saturday, when Congress wasn’t in session but I will say the rally did get a lot of media attention even though no one else was really around to see it in person. Hell I was in town and I didn’t take the time to go out and see it either. Not that I doubt their sincerity, but I figure if you are going to protest, make it meaningful. Stop traffic, force legislators to see you in person, make some noise.

I have left the little confines of Upstate New York for a couple of days in the bright lights of Washington, D.C. That is right folks, for an Election Geek like myself this town is also known as mecca and I have arrived. With that said I have gotten little chance to actually see any of the city as I am attending a conference for my day job. One member of my team who got here earlier spent his afternoon watching a Senate debate where he saw Hillary, Obama and many other 2008 candidates. I was jealous!

Anyway a little burst of reality hit me and my compatriots on the way down here. The pilot of the plane noted not just that the temperature in D.C. was 35 degrees yesterday in the early evening but that it was twenty degrees warmer then where we had just come from. Ouch.
