Race for the Party Nomination
2008 marks the 55th consecutive election for the presidency of the United States. It will be the first election since 1928 without an incumbant running in the primaries from either party. Vice President Dick Cheney who is eligible to be president has publically stated he will not run for the party nomination leaving the race open for both Democrats & Republicans to nominate someone new to run in the general election. So far no current member of the presidents cabinet or former Vice President or President has joined the race.
2008 is being heralded as a "change election" because a new administration will step into office. In addition several "new" faces to national politics have entered the race.
