‘60 Minutes With McCain

April 8th, 2007

Wow, the nonestop implosion of the McCain ticket continued tonight in what I saw as a VERY unflattering segment with the Senator from Iraq & the campaign stop on the CBS program ‘60 Minutes. McCain had been caught making comments recently that Iraq was turning around because of the surge of troops and that a person could walk down streets without fear. He also claimed the top general rides around in an unarmored humvee (he admitted he was wrong on the program) and in addition when asked about the comments about walking around safe and unarmed he not only reasserted them in a press conference he said “I just did”.

As the program pointed out McCain did walk through a neighborhood. But he was taken to it in an armored car that was so enclosed it was like “traveling in a submarine” and when he walked the streets he was surrounded by dozens of troops carrying heavy armor & machine guns with two Apache helicopters circling the neighborhood to ensure he was safe.

The interview then went on pointing out mistakes made in the last campaign including lying about his position about a confederate flag in South Carolina and made frequent gestures about him being too old and out of touch and made further inquires about his making frequent gaffes on the current campaign trail.

It was really not a great portrait of the Senator or his campaign.
