More Imus News - More Sponsors Out/FCC Investigation

April 11th, 2007

Again I only bring this up because so many politicians including those running for the White House appear/have appeared on the Imus program and are commenting.

I just blogged that Barack Obama has called for the firing of Don Imus and the latest news makes it seem like the Senator could get his wish.

More sponsors have pulled out of the show including the two largest. The list now includes General Motors, GlaxoSmithKline, American Express, Procter & Gamble, Ditech.com, Staples Inc.

Meanwhile I blogged on Monday my thoughts on the FCC NOT doing anything for racial slurs while they fined for talk of bodily functions. Well now there is word that the FCC is indeed looking into the incident. I would be surprised if fines are levied BUT I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a new focus by media watchdog groups to pressure the FCC into investigating and possibly fining for such language from this point on.

So my own thoughts? I predict Imus is definitely finished on MSNBC and it will be announced by the weekend. CBS might take a little longer but I would be surprised if he kept the radio show.
