Apparently a staffer setup the page way back in ‘04. Once the campaign became official the 160,000+ friends became important and so they asked the staffer for access to the page. He gave them a price it would take to get it, they balked and ever since things have been in turmoil.

Is the fight for celebrities & politicians cyber presence guaranteed to them or will we continue to live in a world where anyone can be Hillary Clinton, John McCain or Barack Obama in the virtual world?
