McCain Takes the Gloves Off
May 21st, 2007
If you remember when this whole ‘08 campaign started Romney got out of the gate swinging and his main target was Sen. John McCain. When most of those early risers were taking a “I will be nice, raise some money, hang out” approach, Romney was as close to vicious as things got in those early months.
Now we are inching toward June and McCain appears to be ready to fight back and he has done so with that dreaded tag from 2004 and called Romney a “flip-flopper” on Immigration. He also took a personal dig at the candidate.
Republican John McCain (news, bio, voting record) accused presidential rival Mitt Romney of flip-flopping on immigration Monday and said with sarcasm: “Maybe his solution will be to get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his lawn.”
IMHO I really think this is where John McCain’s best strength in the upper-tier is. “You might not always agree with me but I’ve been as close to consistent about these issues as anyone can get on this tier.”
