That Fortune Magazine cover might be more on point than some might have thought. Tonight, according to a Clinton campaign press release, a “powerful” collection of Wall Street bankers, private equity executives & hedge fund managers will come together for a fundraiser for the Senator. The special guest? Warren Buffet whom I mentioned before was publically saying he was supporting both Clinton & Obama.
This should be a nice late in the quarter fundraising event and a chance to potentially add some powerful names to Clinton’s business support.
Buffet already commands a pretty good amount of money for anyone willing to pay to have dinner with him, so you can bet a good amount of dollars will change hands for these money types to meet a sitting Senator, Former First Lady, Potential president rolled into one as well as one of America’s most revered businessmen.

The other day MSNBC posted a list of journalists who had given money to support political campaigns and organizations, often against their employers policies. Since that article at least three of those individuals have been fired. From a followup at MSNBC:
The TV reporter in Omaha who posted a photo of herself on Facebook.com with a congressional candidate, urging her friends to vote for him, is no longer working at the station.
Also out: an editorial cartoonist who said he didn’t “give a rat’s ass” about his newspaper’s policy on campaign contributions by journalists.
And one newspaper has dropped the syndicated column “The Ethicist” by New York Times writer Randy Cohen because of his donation to MoveOn.org, which he said he had thought of as “nonpartisan.”
Though I always hate seeing people lose their jobs this is probably the right message for other journalists and a chance for editors & producers to start being more strict about their policies.

The Washington Post is reporting that former aides of President Bush who helped get the No Child Left Behind education reform act passed are now urging lawmakers not to reauthorize the bill.
In March 57 Republicans signed onto bills that allowed states to opt-out of the provision, the first signal that there could be legislative changes. In addition a growing rift is happening in the electorate where many conservatives who were fearful of the bill to begin with are now vocally getting on blogs and talk radio with their opposition.
A new president will have to face a growing education problem in this country. By not re-authorizing the act the Congress could give a new president and the states a clean slate to work with after the elections.
