CNN has a highly speculative, little actual information up noting Obama support Missouri Senatore McCaskill as a possible VP choice. Their reasoning is because she did not give an overwhelmingly specific answer when asked by Wolf Blitzer if she might be on Obama’s shortlist and because Missouri is considered this year to be a swing state. So little info, lots of speculation. Let me just add my opinion.

Though I like McCaskill and believe she is serving Missouri well, lets not get ahead of ourselves. It seems the media has everyone who has ever worked in Washington pegged as a potential running mate for both candidates but there is a reality factor. Obama is still very new to the Senate and national politics. The last thing he needs is someone who has even less experience in the area than him. McCaskill entered into the Senate during the 2006 elections and while she was a state auditor and in the state House of Representatives, she isn’t exactly beaming with foreign policy or military or domestic policy credentials.

Like it or not, Obama needs someone with experience to back him up and McCaskill doesn’t have it.
